| If you've ever wanted to learn the basic skills required to drive a steam train then this is the experience for you. Accompanied at all times by your instructor, you will get the chance to take the controls yourself and learn how to move off and stop smoothly. There will be plenty of opportunity to hone your skills during the day before the grand climax as you gently 'buffer up' the engine to a 25 ton brake van. Also includes a visit to the signal box and a tour of the locomotive yard. |

On the day |
| Please arrive at the venue in good time on your chosen date. Your experience will begin at 8.30am. Following breakfast and an introductory briefing you will be taken to the engine and will learn the basic skills required to drive a steam locomotive. You will take the controls, learn how to move off and stop smoothly, and buffer up the engine to a 25 ton brake van. You will also visit the signal box and locomotive yard. The day includes lunch and will last approximately 7.5 hours. You will receive complimentary souvenirs to round off your experience. |

Other Information |
| On purchasing this experience you will issued with a voucher valid for ten months. You are then free to arrange a day for your experience with the venue. You must be aged between 18 and 70, reasonably fit and healthy and not on any medication; however, for those over 70, a doctor's note is required. Overalls are provided and you will need to wear strong, sensible footwear. Despite the warmth of a steam locomotive, during inclement weather it is advisable to bring warm clothing. |
